  • Trevor Waybright

    Lead Teaching Elder

I was born and raised in Ripley, WV and graduated from Ripley High School in 1992. I then attended Crown College in Powell, TN where I met my wife, Joy, and we were married in 1997. After we graduated we moved to Beckley, WV where I was a youth pastor for 14 months. In early 2000, we moved to Pasco, WA and then down to Hermiston, OR where we started Victory Baptist Church in October of that year. God taught us much about grace and mercy and gave us three wonderful children (Jordan, Justin, and Alyssa) in the 14 years we were in Hermiston. In November of 2014, I accepted the position of Lead Teaching Elder here at Foundry and we relocated to Bend that same month.

He and his wife Lois have four adult children and twelve grandchildren. When they returned to Bend in 2017, the Lord blessed them with three young foster children whom they adopted in September of 2021.

Born in the capital of Texas, teenage Austin ventured to California to meet his wife Sara and play baseball at Pepperdine University. After a brief jaunt with the Texas Rangers farm system, Austin grew up and became a husband and a math teacher. He and Sara worked and served a church plant in Amherst, MA for six years before planting roots in Bend. Shortly after moving to Bend, Austin switched careers and now owns and operates assisted living facilities around the Pacific Northwest. Austin and Sara lead Foundry's Adoption Ministry and have four children: Dominick, Nolan, Maelyn and Joseph.

Although raised in Southern California, I consider my real roots to be in Lake Tahoe, where my family settled as pioneers five generations ago. And because I spent much of my youth there snow and water skiing, sailing, fishing, hiking, and loving the four seasons, I have felt right at home in Bend since we moved here in 2005. After graduating from Pepperdine in 1975, I married Patti, my college sweetheart, became the first youth pastor at Malibu Presbyterian Church, and then graduated from Fuller Seminary. We now have three grown children (all girls except two boys) and two grandchildren.

As an entrepreneur at heart, my career path included various combinations of teaching, counseling, consulting, graphic design, marketing, and music. I am currently focused on developing missional communities (outward-facing life groups) at Foundry. Our mission is to truly live together as family, made in the image of God as missionary servants called to make disciple-making disciples of those around us.
